“Everything has a gestation period, a time period that must pass before things will come into form. If you plant a carrot seed, it takes about seven weeks for the sprout to make its above-dirt entrance. Bamboo, which can grow up to thirteen feet in as little as one week, takes up to seven years to break through the surface of the ground. But for seven long years it looks like absolutely nothing’s happening. Now that takes some commitment.” ~ James Arthur Ray from Harmonic Wealth
This passage was exactly what I needed to hear this morning as fear and anxiety started to rear its ugly head. I have changed quite a bit about my life in the past year. I left my stable, well paying job to become a yoga instructor and my only available transportation was my leap of faith. I never thought it would be easy and that I wouldn’t come across hurdles along the path. After all, without some resistance how do we grow and learn? So as I talked fear and anxiety off of my shoulder, if at least for a moment, I found gratitude and contentment. I realize I am still in my gestation period and have not quite reached full bloom! When I do, it will have been worth the wait!
What are you expecting to happen with a flip of a switch? Can you be content in knowing that you are in your gestation period?
Love the journey!
