I got an exciting phone call from my mom!

Two weeks ago I got a really exciting phone call. It was my mom calling to ask me for recipes and meal ideas.  Literally, I could have cried. I was so happy! But I had to play it cool.
Keep reading and you’ll understand why.

In 2012, I transitioned from the SAD (standard American diet) and stopped eating land animals once I learned that 10 billion animals are slaughtered each year for human consumption. I soon stopped eating, fish, dairy, and eggs and to this day I don’t consume anything that comes from an animal.

And my intention is and has always been to teach others the tools necessary to transition to a vegan whole foods plant-based lifestyle while taking care of themselves through mind, body, and spirit.

So for the past 8 years, my family has watched my journey. But none of them have been interested in making changes in their own lives. Not in the slightest. So this call was exciting, to say the least. I want my loved ones to be healthy more than anything and I want to help where I can. It's all in due time.

So my mom and I talked about what types of foods she wanted to create with plants and how much time she wanted to spend in the kitchen, which was minimal. So we came up with ideas. I sent her my eBook, AGAIN, but this time I felt she'd really read it. It has over 20 recipes along with tips and tricks on why and how to transition to a vegan whole foods plant-based lifestyle.

But I was curious, why the change? I was even a little nervous because I figured there was something wrong. Well, my stepdad has high blood pressure that he has been controlling with medication for quite some time. At a recent visit to his doctor, he was advised he should consider changing his diet. They suggested a diet similar to the Mediterranean diet, which limits red meat to about once a month and increases the consumption of plant foods. I was surprised that he was on board because he likes his food like Burger King, fast and his way!

When you have a health scare things change. You have to make some serious decisions. How badly do you want to stay the same and continue to have your health decline? Or do you want to make some changes that will dramatically improve your health? And why wait until you have a scare? Start today. A plant-based diet has been proven to prevent disease, so let’s prevent it at all costs. It has also been proven to reverse disease, so let's reverse it. It's never too late to start living a healthier life.

I am happy to say my mom has been really enjoying trying new products and recipes. There is an endless amount of fruits, veggies, beans, and grains to experiment with. The plant kingdom is vast. Let’s explore it for the health of the planet, the animals and our own wellbeing!

I am interested to see the improvements both my mom and stepdad make over the next few months before he returns to his doctor for a follow-up visit. My mom has already noticed improved energy and looser fitting clothes! It’s an exciting time!

Could you use some guidance in adding more plant foods to your diet to prevent or reverse disease? A lot of what we add-in is very important but what we take out of our diet is wildly more important. Would you like some tips on stocking your kitchen? On how to dine out? Or could you use some support because your friends and family aren't on board and don't understand the changes you are making and why?

I offer private lifestyle coaching to take some of the challenge out of the transition to a Whole Foods Plant-Based Diet.
